Hey! It has been a while since I have blogged. Just want to let everyone know I am going to be heading to Walt Disney World for the Disney College Program. After several times of rejection e-mails I finally got into the program and will be doing Attractions this time. Today was my last day at the hotel I work and my co-workers bought me a cake, balloons and card. Thank you too all my CO-WORKERS you are awesome!I am planning on updating my blog about my trip to find my dream job with The Walt Disney World Company. Can’t wait for this amazing adventure. Enjoy my photos! I will talk to you later!!
One thing in life I haven’t figured out is when you receive a compliment it almost makes you embarassed. The other night I had one of those what the heck am I doing with my life moments. My mother proceeded to say to me “Jennifer you are so strong. You are stronger than you realize. You keep moving forward if you fall down and pick yourself back up.” After she said that I just didn’t know what to say. Then I began to hear that voice that we all here that says the opposite of what you just heard. It is great to have friends and family that help you get rid of those negative thoughts.
I am so excited that the song “Man or a Muppet” from “The Muppets” was nominated for a Oscar. It is a great song. Check it out if you haven’t seen it. P.S. I have a huge crush on Jason Segel HAHA! It seems we are about as nerdy about The Muppets.
Man I am getting so nervous about applying to The Disney College Program & The Disney Professional Internship. Recently, both applications have opened up and I am working on perfecting my resume. I have almost lost count on how many times I have applied since my first College Program ended in Spring 2009. But if I had to say a number it probably has been 6-10 times and that is not including full-time positions with The Walt Disney Company. I am a firm believer in things happen for a reason and I am hoping maybe this time I will get back to Disney. DREAMING BIG!!!
Currently, I am taking a Creative Writing course at the local community college. Each class our teacher tries to get us to share what we wrote about. This is something that I struggle with. I worry too much about if people will like what I wrote or if it is good enough. Today after class I started thinking about Kermit the Frog and how he always encouraged the other Muppets and believed in them. I have two amazing friends that I met in college that do this for me. But of course everyone has that voice inside of you that says you can’t do it. That is the greatest thing about having wonderful friends that believe in you because they help get rid of that voice. As you will come to find out I LOVE the Muppets. I especially loved “The Muppets” that recently came out with Jason Segel and Amy Adams. The other day I was looking on Youtube and found “Man or Muppet” video. This is a great song and reminds me that everyone struggles to find who they are. Check it out!
Today I came across an article “What Students Don’t Learn About Work In College” on USNews Money. In the article she talks about companies looking for experience more than knowledge of a subject. During my first three months upon graduation searching for a job I began to learn this. With the state of our economy I believe hiring managers are able to be picky and hire a more experienced candidates that are willing to take a salary cut. I have to say that this is frustrating for a college graduate starting out in the world. I have lucked out a couple of times and was given a chance to prove that I can do the job although I lack experience.
If your in the job search market have you found the same thing happening to you?
